Pablo is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and one of the Operations Managers of KCB’s Mining Environmental Group.

Pablo has over 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering projects related to mining activities, including the design, construction, and safe operation of tailings storage facilities (TSF), and other projects in North America, South America, and Russia. Pablo’s experience also includes: Engineer of Record and Designer of Record for TSFs with consequence classifications ranging from low to extreme, as per Canadian Dam Associations Guidelines; site characterization based on in-situ testing and laboratory data; tailings planning and operational management; reclamation planning for TSFs; and project management.

Key Projects

Pablo’s key projects include the M-Area TSF Risk Reduction Project in Ontario, Highland Valley Copper in British Columbia, the Fort Hills OPTA West facility dams in Alberta, and the Kupol TSF dam in Russia.

Education

Pablo has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and a M.A.Sc in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Colombia as well as Professional Engineers Ontario.

Fun Fact

Pablo started bouldering a few years ago as a way to face his fear of heights, now he does it on an almost weekly basis. He is still afraid of heights, just higher heights.
