Since 1994, KCB has provided design, Engineer-of-Record services, site investigation, and construction monitoring support for the tailings storage facilities and water management structures at the Quesnel River (QR) Mine, near Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada.

Project challenges include managing legacy mine waste and mine contact water, working with external teams on environmental assessment and permit application submissions, and dealing with local landslide movements. Successes include conducting geological and hydrogeological site characterization, proposing a filtered tailings management option, bridging information gaps, conducting a terrain mapping study, and creating a calibrated site-wide water balance and quality model for water treatment design and closure planning.
