KCB’s Women-in-Klohn Group Celebrate International Women in Engineering Day 2018
June 22, 2018
Saturday, June 23, 2018 is International Women in Engineering Day, an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the exciting career opportunities available to girls in this industry.
We at KCB continue to do our part in encouraging women to enter and remain in this exciting industry. Six year ago, KCB established a group called Women-in-Klohn (WiK). The aim of this group is to “attract, retain, engage and support women in KCB” through various programs and initiatives. Since 2012, WiK groups throughout KCB’s offices have led or been involved in over 30 activities, including community support, information sharing, networking events, mentoring programs and lunches with KCB’s CEO.
Our female staff contribute profoundly to KCB’s reputation, success and growth by taking active roles in the creation, development and delivery of important company-wide programs, including technical committees, quality, health and safety initiatives, financial management, and marketing and business development activities. Members of WiK have stepped into leadership roles with our Associates & Principals program, and are mentors and role models to many in the company. Earlier this year, WiK was recognized by the Alberta Women in Sciences Network for supporting and encouraging women in STEM.
We support Engineers Canada’s 30 by 30 initiative, helping raise the percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 percent by the year 2030. At KCB, we have many great opportunities and we’re always interested in people with strong skills, experience, passion, and a drive for excellence. If you are looking for a rewarding career that offers you growth, unique experiences and opportunities to work alongside the best professionals in the world, we’d like to hear from you.
