KCB’s VP, Alberta Joe Quinn named a Fellow of The Engineering Institute of Canada

We are thrilled to announce KCB’s Vice President, Alberta, Joe Quinn, P.Eng., P.Geo., being named a Fellow of The Engineering Insitute of Canada (FEIC). This prestigious recognition highlights Joe’s outstanding contributions to engineering and his dedicated service to the profession and industry.

With over 20 years of experience, Joe has played a pivotal role in the civil, hydraulic and structural design of major hydro infrastructure projects, including dams and irrigation canal systems. His acumen in concept design, development and construction support has significantly advanced dam safety in Canada. He is widely respected as a trusted member of independent review boards and has conducted numerous dam safety reviews and failure mode analyses. His global reputation for knowledge in deformation analysis and soil behaviour is reflected in his contributions to high-profile projects, such as:

  • Alameda and Gardiner Dams: Conducting deformation analyses on weak shales.
  • Site C Project: Developing measures to control potential spillway and earth dam deformations.
  • Forensic Investigations: Supporting investigations into major dam incidents worldwide, including Samarco and Feijão in Brazil and Cadia in Australia.

    • Since joining KCB as a Geotechnical Engineer, Joe has steadily advanced through various roles, including Senior Geotechnical Engineer & UK Manager (2018) and Vice President, Alberta (2023). His leadership and technical knowledge have been instrumental in KCB’s continued success.
