Klohn Crippen Berger is involved in a cone penetration test (CPT) calibration tailings research project with the University of Western Australia. As part of that research, we were asked to participate along with about 20 other commercial and university laboratories in testing a "standard" sample of tailings sand to assess the repeatability of determination of the critical state line (CSL), which is a measure of ground density. Our results came within the required range, and as such, our Vancouver lab is one of a handful of labs that have been selected to participate in the second round of testing.
