Emil Anderson Construction/Klohn Crippen Berger Awarded Vedder Bridge Replacement Project
June 7, 2016
In April, 2016 the City of Chilliwack awarded the Vedder Bridge Replacement Design-Build Project to Emil Anderson Construction. The Vedder Bridge project will replace the existing two-lane steel thru-truss bridge which was constructed in 1947. The new steel arch bridge will provide increased clearance above flood waters, have wider travel lanes and shoulders along with two multi-use pathways to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists.
We are proud to be working with Emil Anderson to provide design management and detailed structural, geotechnical, and hydrotechnical engineering for the new steel arch bridge. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall with substantial project completion in October 2017.
The competition for the project was based on a combination of a technical evaluation and cost. Emil Anderson Construction’s proposal had the highest technical evaluation as well as the lowest cost. Our staff are already on site conducting geotechnical field investigations and detailed bridge design. We look forward to working with the Design-Build team to bring this beautiful bridge to the City of Chilliwack.
