Dr. Tim Keegan part of team that wins Association Québécoise du Transport – Rail Transportation Award
August 14, 2017
Congratulations to KCB’s Dr. Tim Keegan, P.Eng. and the team at Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L) for winning the Association Québécoise du Transport - Rail Transportation Award for their railway ground hazard management program.
The QNS&L runs 414 kilometres through the wilderness of northeastern Quebec and western Labrador. In November 2014, a locomotive engineer was killed when a landslide caused a train to derail and slide into the Moisie River. This unfortunate accident was the impetus for the development of a railway ground hazard management program that exceeded corporate, regulatory, and industry standards. Dr. Keegan acted as external/independent auditor of QNS&L’s developing ground hazard management program and provided assistance to achieve QNS&L’s mandate.
