Andrew Port, P.Eng.

Andrew joined KCB in 1996 following graduate studies, and since then has advanced his technical and management career to become a trusted advisor to infrastructure and government clients. Andrew became an Associate in 2008 and was promoted to Principal in 2017. He currently leads the Geo Structures group in the Vancouver office.

Andrew’s experience is in the geotechnical aspects of civic and industrial projects, primarily in British Columbia, including highways, bridges, airports, wastewater treatment plants, dams, port facilities and mine infrastructure. His design experience includes piled foundations, rock sockets, soil anchors, marine structure foundations, settlements, dynamic foundation stiffness and bearing capacity, slope stability, liquefaction assessments and  ground improvement.

Key Projects

Andrew’s key projects in British Columbia include expansion of the Annacis Wastewater Treatment Plant in Delta, expansion of the taxiways and aprons at the Vancouver International Airport, infrastructure design for the Esquimalt Graving Dock near Victoria for the Royal Canadian Navy’s submarines and frigates, and the Roberts Bank Terminal 1 Road Improvement Project as the owner’s lead geotechnical engineer.

Education

Andrew has a B.A.Sc. and an M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from The University of British Columbia. He is a registered professional engineer in British Columbia and Ontario, and is a member of the Vancouver Geotechnical Society and the Canadian Geotechnical Society.
