Brian started his career as a construction site engineer and worked in the construction sector in Ireland and the USA in a variety of technical and project management roles for 12 years.

Brian entered geotechnical consultancy whilst in the USA and on returning to Ireland in 2012, he developed into a mine waste practitioner.

Brian has amassed 12 years of experience in tailings facility and landfill design, monitoring and review, primarily in the Ireland, Sweden and Finland regions.

Key Projects

Brian’s key projects include the Engineer of Record (EoR) and/or Designer of Record roles for the Aughinish Alumina, Bauxite Residue Dispoal Area (BRDA) in Limerick, Ireland, the Tara Mines Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) in Meath, Ireland and the Lisheen Mine TSF in Tipperary, Ireland.

Education

Brian is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland and holds a B.E. in Civil Engineering from University College Dublin (1998), an M.Sc in Civil Engineering - Geotechnical and Geosynthetic track, from Drexel University, Philadelphia (2012) and an EMBA from University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School (2023).

Fun Fact

Brian grew up on a working farm and later progressed into construction for much of his early career before entering consultancy. He has a strong appreciation of site engineering and surveying, earthworks and building construction.
