Katie has been a structural engineer at Klohn Crippen Berger for 19 years. During the early years of her career at Klohn Crippen Berger she had the opportunity to work on a variety of bridge and hydropower projects before finding her niche in dams and hydropower. her dam and hydroelectric experience includes the design of a roller compacted concrete dam, powerhouse substructures, spillway structures, surge tank foundations, penstock anchor blocks and related structures.

Katie has 8 years of experience doing interface management and design management on major projects. In 2023, Katie moved to Brisbane, Australia to work in collaboration with KCB’s Australia business unit to expand KCB’s Water Dam and Hydropower service offering to Australia.

Key Projects

Katie’s key projects include the Site C, Peace River in British Columbia, the Paradise Dam Improvement Project in Queensland, Australia and the Tarraleah Redevelopment Scheme, Tasmania, Australia.

Education

Katie has a B.A. Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a Registered Professional with Engineers and Geoscientists in British Columbia and with the Board of Professional Engineers in Queensland.

Fun Fact

Katie applied to the college of engineering not really sure whether she would like it or even what a career in engineering would entail. Her parents got her an email address “bridgebuilder.net” as an aspirational joke and sure enough, the first project she worked on upon graduating was the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge project at Klohn Crippen Berger!
