Jeffrey is a Geological Engineer with a B.A.Sc. degree from the University of Waterloo. Jeffrey has 15 years of experience in the mining industry working on Tailings dam design, dam breach assessments, dam safety reviews, soil liquefaction assessment, dry stack tailings design, waste dump design, pitwall design, rock and soil core logging, geological and geomorphological mapping, subcontractor management and rockfall hazard risk assessment.
Key Projects
Jeffery’s key projects include serving as Designer of Record for several Suncor Base Mine structures, including the South Tailing Pond Dams, McLean Creek Wetland Dam, and North Steepbank Extension Mine pit walls and dumps. His work also includes geological field mapping, tailings dam upgrades, liquefaction screening assessments, and the decommissioning and closure of a decant tunnel at the Vale Copper Cliff Mine.
He has also been the lead designer for tailings storage facility dams at Boliden’s Aitik site, and has supported groundwater modeling, the design of roads over muskeg, and the construction of cutoff walls for the Suncor Fort Hills Mine development projects.
Jeffrey is also working with the CDA to help develop tailings storage facility closure guidelines.
Education
Jeffrey has a B.A.Sc. in Geological Engineering (Hons, Co-op) from the University of Waterloo. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.
