Dustin is an aquatic biologist with Klohn Crippen Berger and a graduate of the University of Alberta. His responsibilities include project management and technical coordination, client liaison, report preparation, and field program design and execution. Dustin has a thorough knowledge of the environmental assessment and regulatory processes and has been involved in many projects related to water infrastructure, transportation, hydropower, mining, and oilsands. Dustin has successfully coordinated the execution of large-scale, multi-discipline projects including federal and provincial environmental impact assessments.
Key Projects
Dustin’s key projects have included large-scale impact assessments for water management projects, such as Chin Reservoir Expansion, Little Bow Reservoir Rehabilitation, and the Special Areas Water Supply Project. Dustin has served as the project manager for Regional Environmental Consulting contracts for Alberta Transportation, as well as supporting environmental assessment and permitting for a wide range of Geohazard Risk Management Program projects in multiple regions. Dustin has managed a long-term flood repair fish habitat offsetting and follow-up monitoring program for the City of Calgary, in addition to supporting many other projects such as the Downtown Flood Barrier, Glenmore Dam Rehabilitation, and the Calgary Rivers Morphology and Fish Habitat Study.
Education
Dustin has a B.Sc. Animal Biology Specialization with Distinction from the University of Alberta. He is a Registered Professional under the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists and the College of Applied Biology British Columbia.
Fun Fact
Dustin’s love for fishing steered him towards a biology degree, which ultimately led to beginning his career as a consulting field biologist. These days, the balance of Dustin’s time is spent supporting projects from the office, but in his personal time he enjoys organizing outdoor adventures with his family.
