David has over eighteen years of experience working as a Geotechnical Engineer in both civil engineering and mining projects. David has worked on projects worldwide with recent experience in Africa, Europe, North America and Asia. David has a proven track record leading projects in tailings facility design, waste rock dump design, mine infrastructure and mine plant site design from planning stages through to operational support. David’s technical experience includes: Foundations, earthworks and structure design, TSF locations studies, planning and costing of TSFs, TSF auditing, TSF Design, Numerical modelling, slope stability and seepage modelling, DSRs, liquefaction assessment, Risk Assessment.
David’s key project roles include Deputy Designer of Record (DDOR), Dam Safety Assessor, Technical Review Board Member and Project Manager for Tailings Storage Facilities.
Key Projects
David’s key projects include Aitik Mine TSF (Project Director, DDOR), Lead auditor and ITRB – Glencore Sites in South Africa, Neves Corvo DSR in Portugal (Project Manager), and M Area North Dam Sheet Pile Wall Analysis in Canada (Lead Geotechnical Modeler).
Education
David has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Major subjects Physics and Geology) and an M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. He is a Professional member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and is a Chartered Engineer.
